In May 2023, Oracle announced updated and more optimized VMware offerings in its cloud. These updates took into account the wishes and recommendations of existing customers with different types of loads. It was taken into account that although compact form factors provide high processing power, support for small and medium workloads is needed, as well as greater flexibility to avoid over- or under-utilization of computing resources, memory and storage.
In the updated plans, Oracle provides support for Oracle Cloud VMware Solution with independent scaling of compute and storage. They support a wide range of core configurations from ultra-small to ultra-large to right-size VMware workloads. The updated offerings address a wide range of VMware workloads, including web applications, small databases, recovery, development environments, and more.
